Tim's Page

This is the serious, grown-up part of our Home Page. I'm the head of the household and what I say goes. If that's all right with you!

Personal Bit:-

I am 45, divorced with 2 children, Vicki who is 17 and has just left school and started work and Robert who is 15. I am 6 feet tall, balding, bearded and be-spectacled and work as a mainframe computer support technician. I think I must have a very good sense of humour as I drove a Lada for 7 years and I have heard some if not all LADA jokes.

My interests are watching motorsport ( I can no longer afford to compete) and football with my son Robert, listening to blues/rock music and I am trying to piece together our family tree.I also attend an evening class in Yoga in an attempt to arrest the aging process and combat the stress of everyday life.

Robert and I are season ticket holders at Stockport County and go to all the home games and any away games that are less than 100 miles away . We also go to blues concerts together. Unfortunately Vicki and I do not have a common interest which I suppose is quite normal at her age. We went to see East 17 together a couple of years ago but her current taste in ?music? leaves me cold.

Motor Sport

Below is my Mini Cooper S back in the 70's when I could afford to compete in local road rallies. Never managed to win anything outright but did manage a first in class once. Had lots of fun trying to keep up with THE cars of the day ie. Escorts & Chevettes and managed to beat a few. The background to this page is my previous mini which I rolled onto its roof a few weeks before this photo was taken.

Happy days Rallying in the 70's

Football

The last 15 months have been like a dream to the supporters of Stockport County who have always been the unfashionable butt of jokes by City and United fans (and Granada's Crewe & Tranmere loving Elton Welsby). In the past six seasons we have made slow upward progress but always seemed to be the bridesmaid and never the bride. It felt like we would never get anywhere after four unsuccessful visits to Wembley in the play-offs and Autoglass Trophy Finals.

When Danny Begara left we all thought that we were going to slip back down the league again but after a seasons consolidation Dave Jones and the team showed us that with a bit of self belief and determination anything is possible. Last season was a fantastic achievement for the club in reaching the semi-final of the Coca-Cola Cup and gaining promotion as well. In all 67 games were played in the league and three cup competitions and the players really earned their summer break. Try asking the whinging millionaires at Old Trafford to do that and see what response you get! The game at Chesterfield where promotion was secured was one of the most nail-biting I have witnessed. Having scored early in the first half and then having to hang on while the referee play 'hours' of injury time at the end. The result made light of standing in the rain all evening although we probably all thought that the Chesterfield fan's chants of 'straight back down' had a ring of truth about it.

Having got over the shock of actually being in the First Division for the coming season all our hearts sank with the news that Dave Jones/John Sainty were leaving for Southampton. Everyone decided that avoiding relegation would have to be the season's target especially when Dave Jones came back and took our 'Keeper (Paul Jones) and left back (Lee Todd) to the south coast with him. It looked like the Chesterfield prophecy would come true when we started the season poorly under new manager Gary Megson. However, we were playing well for no reward and now that a few more wise purchases have been made and the team seem to know what the game plan is things are definitely looking up. Currently standing in the top half of the table and looking down on some our 'betters' is a great feeling for all County fans and has got some dreaming of a play-off place!

Music

In my humble opinion the best music in the world is 'The Blues' as performed by the likes of John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Buddy Guy etc. with the 'youngsters' such as John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan running them a close second. Below are a few links to some 'good music' sites.

Family TreeNew.gif (1667 bytes)

On a more serious note I am currently trying to make a start on my family tree and have got back via my maternal grandmother's mother to a Sholto Douglas(1764-1824) of Govan, Lanarkshire. My paternal grandfather was Dr Samuel Anderson of the Indian Army also originally from the Glasgow area while my maternal grandfather was John MacInnes from Stornaway, Isle of Lewis. It would appear that I will have to make a few journeys north to make any more progress unless anybody out there can help me. You can see a small part of the tree on this page.
