These rules are for general diagnosis only. If there is any doubt, consult your GP immediately.

RULE 1

If you have a grip like feeling in the head or you have a pain in the back of your head coming from your neck then you are displaying the symptoms of a headache.

RULE 2

If you have a dislike of bright lights then you are displaying the symptoms of photophobia.

RULE 3

If you are drowsy or you are experiencing forgetfulness then you are displaying the symptoms of 'in/out' of consciousness.

RULE 4

If you have a high temperature or you are suffering from anxiety or you are over-sweating then you are displaying the symptoms of a fever.

RULE 5

If you are having difficulty in hearing or you have a pain in the ear then you are displaying the symptoms of altered sensorium.

RULE 6

If you are having convulsions or you have been having fits then you are displaying the symptoms of seizures.

RULE 7

If you have a feeling of unease or you have a feeling of mild sickness or you are feeling tired then you are displaying the symptoms of malaise.

RULE 8

If you have reduced movement of the neck backwards and forwards then you are suffering from the symptom of a stiff neck.

RULE 9

If you are displaying the symptoms of a headache and you are displaying the symptom of photophobia and you are suffering from nausea and you have been vomiting and you are displaying the symptoms of 'in/out' of consciousness then you are displaying the clinical presentations of viral meningitis.

RULE 10

If you are displaying a symptoms of a headache and you are displaying the symptom of photophobia and you are suffering from nausea and you have been vomiting and you are suffering from the symptoms of altered sensorium then you are displaying the clinical presentations of fungal meningitis.

RULE 11

If you are displaying a symptoms of a headache and you are suffering from nausea and you have been vomiting and you are suffering from the symptoms of seizures and you are suffering from the symptoms of malaise and you are displaying the symptoms of 'in/out' of consciousness, but you are not displaying the symptom of photophobia or the symptoms of a fever then you are displaying the clinical presentations of tuberculous meningitis.

RULE 12

If you are displaying a symptoms of a headache and you are suffering from nausea and you have been vomiting and you have a rash and you have joint and muscle pain and your breathing is rapid and you are displaying the symptoms of 'in/out' of consciousness, but you are not displaying the symptom of photophobia or the symptoms of a fever or the symptoms of seizures, then you are displaying the clinical presentations of Meningococcal meningitis.

RULE 13

If you are displaying a symptoms of a headache and you are displaying the symptoms of a fever and you are suffering from nausea and you have been vomiting and you are displaying the symptoms of a stiff neck and you are displaying the symptoms of ' in/out' of consciousness, but you are not displaying the symptom of photophobia or suffering from the symptoms of seizures or have a rash, then you are displaying the clinical presentations of bacterial meningitis.

RULE 14

If you are displaying any one of these symptoms then you should make an appointment with your GP.
