Arnull Internet Services can also provide components and modules for existing or developing sites. For example, you may have decided to design and produce the site yourself, but want a particular effect or option that you cannot achieve, or alternatively, that you do not want to have to develop for yourself.
AIS
can offer either one of our range of off-the-shelf components, or specifically
develop a module for you. We support a range of modules, ranging from
Java and ActiveX, through to Javascript, C++, Perl, Active Server Pages,
and DHTML. What's more, you only pay 25% of the projected cost before
we start development, up to a maximum of £50. You only have to pay
the rest upon acceptance of the module.
We don't just stop there!! If we develop code specifically for your needs,
and then reuse the same code with minimal alteration for another client,
then you will qualify for a rebate of 5% of the RRP price.
Java
is often seen as the prime development language of the Web. Whilst we
don't dispute its power, and security, it doesn't necessarily lend itself
to all situations. At AIS, we carefully look at your requirements, and
help you top decide upon the right option for you.
ActiveX allows Microsoft-orientated internet and intranet sites to link
themselves to a wide range of applications. It can be very powerful, especially
when working closely with Microsoft Office, but you should be aware that
support for ActiveX amongst non-Microsoft products is at best patchy.
Javascript is emerging as one of the principle three development languages for the web. Its principle advantage is that you transfer all processing onto the users own PC, making response times appear more rapid. There are few occasions where Javascript cannot meet the specific requirements of a given task, but they are few and far between
C++, Perl and Active Server Pages
There are times when the only way to achieve a
solution is to use code that runs on the server itself. Such solutions
provide a far greater amount of security and flexibility, and are totally
browser independent.
At AIS, we support three of the major technologies - C++, Perl and Active
Server Pages. Perl and ASP provide the bulk of our solutions, utilising
the flexibility and power that both languages provide.
However, for more complex projects, requiring very high levels of security, speed and stability, then AIS will look to C and C++ to provide the solution. However, there are very few occasions where most businesses will require that kind of solution.
Flash, Streaming Video, Graphic Design
AIS can also help you develop multimedia sites, with complex
Flash animations, audio and video input. This can be used very effectively
in marketing sections of your site, and also in association with training.
The real advantage of Flash is its scaleability - if a browser does not
support the option, the animation's default image is shown. If it does,
than the user is treated to animation, sound, and so forth. If appropriate,
whole sites, complete with menus, forms etc., can be designed in Flash,
though this is normally the exception, not the rule.
