Helpline News

Bristol Crisis Service for Women Helpline has been awarded with the Telephone Helplines Association Mental Health Helplines Quality Standard.  The Helpline has undergone a rigorous process over the last 8 months to check the quality of its policies, volunteer training and support, consistency of call-taking, confidentiality, monitoring and developing the service amongst other things.  The Quality standard is the most thorough standard for Helplines in the UK, and we are very proud of all the staff and volunteers at Bristol Crisis Service for Women for their hard-work in achieving it, and for maintaining such high standards of listening support for callers to the helpline.  We are aware how frustrating it can be for callers when they phone, and cannot get through to the helpline, we are aiming to increase the availability of the service, so that more callers can get through, whilst maintaining high standards of listening support.  If you are interested to know more about the quality standard please see the link to Telephone Helplines Association.

Do you need to talk in confidence?

Whatever your age or experience we will listen and support you. Females of all ages can ring and talk to another woman in complete confidence.

You can talk to another woman in complete confidence for up to an hour. Many of our calls are from women and young women who have suffered sexual abuse, or who injure themselves as a way of coping with their feelings.

If you are more comfortable talking in another language, we have access to interpreters via Language Line.

The helpline is staffed by volunteers, who receive full training and support for their work.
