The Bedford QLR Group attends and takes part in military vehicle show's and Living history display's both at home and abroad. Has all Y section's within the British armed services were so secret, very little is known of their work within the history of World War II.
The only way in which the Bedford Lorry (truck) as been restored is with the help of ex members of service and also Bletchley Park ( X Station)Trust. Very little of the history as been told until now, so the group hope to be educational and entertaining whilst giving people the chance to experience a period of time that they would never be able to see and hear otherwise.
The center piece is a restored 1942 Bedford QLR wireless interceptor this is a 3 ton lorry (truck) with all restoration being done by Philip with help from my wife, family and very good friends. The restoration is an ongoing concern which is mainly done over the winter months with hopefully only servicing done in the summer months. This work is to maintain a high degree of safety of the lorry on the public roads of the UK and in Europe.
Great care is taken to ensure authenticity of all equipment that we use right down to flashes, badges and buttons worn on the World War II uniforms we all us. The enthusiasm and interest that visitors show us especially ex servicemen of that period , when they visit us at events makes the effort that the group put into the display well worth it.
