John's fabulous number 1 is joined by Beryl's 0 to make the 10.
John made a fruit cake and covered it with royal icing, creating the coal from liquid colours whilst trying to maintain a piping consistancy. His little 'devil' was cut from paper and attachced to the icing.
Beryl made a sponge cake, covered with sugar paste and the colours were produced with paste and powder colour which makes obtaining a deep colour much simpler.
