The next hobby that I am interested in is spinning having tried badly to 'drop-spindle' when at junior school at about 7 yrs of age. Obviously something clicked and many years later I had the money and opportunity to get my first spinning wheel. This wheel was made by a very skilled carpenter but not a spinner, and having learnt on that one, I knew that I could master anything. My next wheel was an ASHFORD TRAVELLER followed in time by an ASHFORD TRADITIONAL . A MAJACRAFT SUZIE was then spotted in the SALT LAKE SPINNING STORE. It would not fit into hand luggage or my suitcase so it had to wait until I was back home. My very clever husband then made an ELECTRIC SPINNER that I could take away on holidays with us. Many years have passed since those days and I am at present back to a very small, sweet PEACOCK wheel enabling me to keep my hand in. Over these years I also kept and bred ANGORA rabbits for my fibre store but became allergic to them and eventually it came to an end. But not to be downhearted I soon found another source of fibres. My friend had a flock of rare breed sheep and this kept the wool supply going until she and her husband retired. I am also fortunate to have very close to me the MOHAIR CENTRE with a large flock of ANGORA GOATS, plus many specialty yarns such as silk, mohair and alpaca to name just a few. Another good friend has also started a fibre shop plus many other lovely tempting things to lure the money from my purse. I do have 2 boy CHINCHILLAS but I think it would take many lifetimes to gather enough fibre for even dolls clothes! We are lucky to have many courses being run in our area, all fibre related, and on one of these courses I found the next exciting craft.
