Frequency and Period

Round all answers to 1 decimal place

A. Calculate the frequency, f, in Hertz for the following waves (e.g. if 3 waves pass a point in 1 second, then the frequency is 3 waves per second, f = 3 Hz)

1) 2 waves pass in 1 second

2) 4 waves pass in 1 second

3) 6 waves pass in 2 seconds

4) 8 waves pass in 4 seconds

5) 12 waves pass in 2 seconds

6) 100 waves pass in 4 seconds

7) 1024 waves pass in 4 seconds

8) 1 wave passes in 2 milliseconds

9) 1 wave passes in 5 seconds

10) 3 waves pass in 3 microseconds

11) 10 waves pass in 100 seconds

12) 14 waves pass in 3.7 seconds

B. Calculate the period, T, in seconds for waves with the following frequencies:

1) f = 1Hz

2) f = 5 Hz

3) f = 100 Hz

4) f = 0.5 Hz

C. Calculate the frequency, f, in Hertz of waves with periods as given:

1) T = 1 s

2) T = 0.1 s

3) T = 0.02 s

4) T = 0.63 s

5) T = 1 m s

6) T = 15 ms

7) T = 170 m s

8) T = 3.89 s
