A. Make a reasonably accurate sketch of 3 wavelengths of a water wave with wavelength and amplitude as given:

1) l = 2 cm, A = 1 cm 2) l = 4 cm, A = 3 cm 3) l = 0.5 cm, A = 5mm

 

Round all answers to 1 decimal place.

B. Calculate the speeds in metres per second (m/s or ms-1) for these waves:

1) f = 10 Hz, l = 1 cm

2) f = 17.6 Hz, l = 50 mm

3) f = 1000 Hz, l = 3mm

4) f = 100 000 Hz, l = 3 km

 

 

C. Calculate the frequency, f, in Hertz of waves with speeds and wavelengths below:

1) v = 330 m/s, l = 0.7 mm

2) v = 342 m/s, l = 690 mm

3) v = 17 m/s, l = 2 m

4) v = 34.5 cm/s, l = 0.23 m
