Lonely? Anxious? Depressed? Bereaved? Just need someone to Talk To? Would Like Somebody to Pray with You?
All calls are treated as confidential to Crossline.
Crossline currently receives nearly 6000 calls of which 4065 were able to be answered . About 60% of our calls are from people with mental health problems. Regular and repeat callers make up about 90% of calls. At present there is only a very small amount of follow up counselling, but sometimes people are happy to be put in touch with a local Church fellowship.
All our listeners are trained on a specialist telephone listening course that is accredited by the Association of Christian Counsellors. As far as I know this is the only accredited Christian based course of this type. This is course is available to be run throughout the country on request. A Training for Trainers Course in association with this is being planned for 2007.

Crossline
Coventry has recently been accredited by the Telephone Helplines Association
Executive Committee to the Mental Health Helplines Partnership Quality
Standard. This represents a major achievement as well as a testimony to
the quality of our service. We are the first Christian Helpline in England and
Wales to do so and join a select group of 12 lines with the MHHP Quality
Standard. About 60% of the calls to Crossline are Mental Health related
because the majority of our regular callers fall into this group. We are now entitled to
display the THA Quality Standard logo on all our literature. For more information on
the MHHP click here ![]()
We also receive calls that are signposted to us by other organisations including Get Connected
Christian Helplines Association – http://www.christianhelplines.co.uk 10 organisations originally signed up to be part of this new initiative for our nation - Serving Jesus Christ by Serving the People who Call Us. The organisation was launched at the Christian Resources Exhibition on May 12th 2004 - live on Premier Christian Radio. We continue to work together on a number of initiatives. These currently include a Call Sharing Project with the aim of providing a Christian Helpline that is available 24/7 ; to produce a unified training programme alongside the Call Sharing project to enable rapid involvement of new listeners from different localities that at present do not have a local Christian helpline; to continue to organise meetings/seminars of general interest to Christian based helpline work; to identify or produce resources to back up Christian helpline work.
Behind the public face of our nation lies a community of people hurting and crying out for care. God hears every cry and His great loving heart is moved by what he hears. Crossline listeners are here to listen to your cries and to share the compassion of Christ with you when you call.
Crossline has been operating in Coventry since 1992 as a project of Coventry City Mission. All our listeners are committed Christians and have received training in listening skills with many having received accredited training in counselling as well. Face to face counselling is available by appointment with counsellors who all work under supervision. Crossline is a member of the Christian Helplines Association, Telephone Helplines Association , Mental Health Helplines Partnership and affiliated to the Association of Christian Counsellors
