THE BLUE CAP
Sandiway, Northwich

(Vale Royal Suite)

from 4pm

How to Find The Blue Cap! (Suggestions only!!!)

The pub is situated by the side of the A556 Chester to Manchester road, a mile to the east of the junction of the A556 with the A49, which is about 8 miles south from Junction 10 of the M56.

If you are travelling on the M6 from the North leave the M6 at Junction 20 and follow the signs for Chester and North Wales (and Liverpool Airport). If you are using the M62 to travel from north of Manchester or points East leave that motorway at Junction 10 and join the M6, following signs for Birmingham. After crossing the Thelwall Viaduct (you can't miss it!!), take the second part of the next interchange (M6 - J20) following signs for Chester and North Wales, as above, leaving the M56 at Junction 10, and taking the second exit (A49) from the roundabout, following the A49 to its junction with the A556 (Shell service station on left) where you turn left along the A556 for about a mile when the pub will be on your left.

Zetmeeters travelling from the South on the M6 should leave the motorway at Junction 19 and turn left (heading West towards Chester) on the A556 for about 10 miles. Please be aware that for the first few miles this road is not a dual carriageway, and that there are many speed cameras. After crossing the River Weaver on a blue-painted bridge, and passing the turning for Hartford, there is a straight, level section of dual-carriageway, followed by a dip into a valley and a corresponding climb out. The Blue Cap is on the right, just after a round tower on the centre reservation, and by the start of a 40mph speed limit - with more cameras!

Zetmeeters travelling from Chester or N. Wales should make their way to the A556. Be aware that this road leaves the Chester Southerly by-pass as the A51, then when the A51 goes off to the right it becomes the A54, only becoming the A556 after the end of the Kelsall by-pass. Beware of the 50mph speed limit at Delamere. After crossing the A49 the pub is a mile further on the left, 200yds past the traffic-lights in Sandiway.

Travellers from the Liverpool area should cross the Mersey at the Runcorn-Widnes bridge and follow signs for Chester A557 - you'll need to get into the right-hand lane on the Bridge. Take care - the Runcorn Expressway is notorious for sending people round in ever-decreasing circles. The A557 meets the M56 Junction 12 at the first roundabout. Take the first exit from the roundabout (almost straight on) to join the motorway, heading for Manchester, but leave the M56 at Junction 10, taking the fifth exit from the roundabout, the A49, which you follow for 8 miles, turning left along the A556 shortly after passing through the village of Cuddington.

If you arrive before 4pm., you'll probably find us in the bar!
