In Foreign Parts is the second volume of a new series called Canterbury Sources intended to give access to a wide range of printed and manuscript sources in the Archives and Library at Canterbury Cathedral or to present other historical material relating to Canterbury. This bibliography of over 500 items draws on the Dean and Chapter's rich collections of material on travel and geography, including the libraries of Lee Warly (1715–1807), Sir Robert Harry Inglis (1786–1855). Topics include the colonisation of the Americas, Cook's voyages in the South Seas, missionary activities in India, New Zealand and elsewhere, archaeological and anthropological explorations in the Near East and Far East, and the administration of the East India Company and of other trading companies.
