The following extract was taken from The Late Late Show, originally broadcasted sometime in 1997

Would you please welcome, Father Trendy as was, ..... now Father Ted ..... Dermot Morgan! "

An exuberant Dermot talked to Gay Byrne about his feelings on the success of the Father Ted series, his reflections on life in London, script writing for his own new sitcoms and about filming of the FT series. He gave an ebullient interview, displaying his usual ready wit and humour throughout.

Here is one anecdote Dermot shared with the audience, from the set of Father Ted :-

I used to do something dreadful to O'Hanlon to amuse myself between takes.	We recorded the studio bits down at the South Bank in the London studios...
I used to amuse myself during the bed scenes when Ardal and I were talking about something in our respective beds...	But when the technicians and the camera men were sorting some problem , ...
...I'd get up and go over to his bed and say: ...	...You are a fine looking young priest,.. And I would start getting into bed with him, you see .. And Ardal would go: ...
.. are you coming onto me again?	And I'd say: Yes.! And he'd say: Go away!
And I'd say...You wanna change your attitude ...	... if you're gonna get on in the Church!
