26 Oct 2006The Alzheimer's Society has joined with The Northern Echo to launch a campaign against a decision to deny certain drugs which can improve the quality of life for many Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers.
The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has refused to listen to the Alzheimer's Society and thousands of people with dementia and their carers and sanction the use of these drugs that have and do help many people.
We are calling on the Department of Health to set aside NICE's guidance and ensure that the relevant treatments are made available for doctors to prescribe to all patients where they feel they will be of clinical benefit.
You can make your voice heard by filling out the form on the Northern Echo website and including your name and address. Coupons are also available in the paper or from the branch office.
All the responses they receive, either on coupons or via their website, will be forwarded to Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt.
