Cllr Allen Turner, Chairman of Chester-le-Street District Council, was on the carpet today, but all in a good cause.

He was visiting 'The Green' Day Centre run by the Alzheimer's Society in Nettlesworth near Chester-le-Street on 13 April 2006 both to see a new carpet which the council had helped to provide, as well as take on the invidious role of having to judge the Easter Eggs made by the clients

Cllr and Mrs Turner were welcomed by the Alzheimer's Society branch Chairman Patrick Nethercot who paid tribute to the strong and steadfast support the Alzheimer's Society receives from Chester-le-Street Council. Cllr Turner found judging the Easter Eggs very difficult as they were all so well done. He also gave his official seal of approval to the new carpet. This was also funded by a generous donation from a former carer of an Alzheimer's sufferer, but wished to remain anonymous.
