Emily and Chloe keen to set off
|
Wet weather failed to dampen the spirits of about sixty people of all ages who walked for Alzheimer's on Sunday.
The occasion was the Alzheimer's Society's "Memory Walk" to raise awareness and funds for the Society in Durham and Chester-le-Street. The three mile walk beside the River Wear at Chester-le-Street was organised with help from the district council, and financial support from Tescos.
The Chairman of Chester-le-Street District Council, Cllr Ralph Harrison, addressed the walkers before the start, and presented certificates at the end.

Happy walkers as the weather improves
|
Branch Chairman Patrick Nethercot said,
"The turnout was excellent given the weather prospects, but it stopped raining soon after we set off. The branch would like to thank Chester-le-Street Council for their support in this and for the work of the Society generally in the area."
Walkers wore cards with the name of a loved one affected by dementia as a way of keeping the memory of those suffering and lost to dementia.
