Local M.P. Supports Alzheimer's Awareness Week
Durham City M.P. Gerry Steinberg is one of more than 60 who have signed a House of Commons Early Day Motion marking Alzheimer's Awareness Week in the UK. The motion, number 881 in the 1999-2000 parliamentary session, reads:
That this House notes the publication of the Alzheimer's Society report Food for Thought which marks Alzheimer's Awareness Week, 2nd to 8th July; recognises the problems people with dementia face getting an adequate and nutritious diet in care homes, hospitals and in their own homes; and calls for greater support and advice for carers of people with dementia on eating and diet, increased dementia training for health and social care staff in care homes and the NHS and improved standards of food provision in all care settings.
Gerry Steinberg M.P. is one of two M.P.s for the area the branch covers, the other being Chester-le-Street M.P., Giles Radice.
