UK Government to implement five-year moratorium on genetic testing and insurance

The government has announced a five-year moratorium of the use of genetic information by insurance companies, an issue the Society has been campaigning on since 1994.

Harry Cayton, chief executive of the Society, commented that, "The moratorium will halt genetic discrimination and encourage families to participate in genetic research without fear. The participation of individual families has been tremendously important in enhancing our understanding of Alzheimer's disease to date."
