Bright Diamond Ring

This image shows the corona and a bright diamond ring as the moon starts to cover the sun. The image is in fact from the same negative as the second image, the difference is due entirely to the printing process. No prominences can be seen in this image but the bright solar surface does produce a nice lens flare effect.
