With it you can enter details of up to 999 persons (or 4000 using NEWGEN5K or NEWGENG) and display, print or save birth briefs, family groups, descendant lists and drop line trees. It is limited to no more than 3 partners and not more than 16 children per person.
Users have stated that it is very easy to use (despite not being a GEM application) and I still use it myself. There is full documentation and many on-line prompts.
There is also a separate GEDCOM facility program by which you can import data (from a GEDCOM file) from other genealogy data bases, and by which you can export your data into a GEDCOM file for reading into other programs. This is called NEWGED and is a full GEM implementation.
NEWGEN comes in three versions:
1. NEWGEN which caters for up
to 999 persons and can be run entirely from floppy disks.
2. NEWGEN5K which caters for up
to 4000 persons; to make full use of this you need a hard disk.
3. NEWGENG which is similar to
NEWGEN5K which it supersedes and which can by run on PCs with
GEMULATOR
98 installed. This package includes a program for printing any drop line
tree generated by any
version
of NEWGEN (5K,G) on any EPSON compatible printer.
You can download any one of these versions or NEWGED as a ZIP file:
