The Rope Prayer

Method

1. Obtain a rope or a bit of solid string etc. that is going to be long enough to go round everyone! Try to anchor one end to something solid! But this is not essential.

2. With a colleague, get them to hold one end, and you the other. Pull gently on the rope, and on your word (!) get them to let go, and, without hurting yourself, make a thing of falling, or stumbling etc!

3. Explain that the rope represents that Jesus is safe and secure and that he will NEVER let us go. We can trust Him.

4. Arrange the rope and people so that everyone can get a hold of a bit.

5. Explain the response. - We hope in you, and hang on to You

When life is hard and we cannot see the future:

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When everyone around us laughs at us

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When everything we touch seems to end in disaster

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When we are suffering illness or tiredness or stress

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When tears fill our lives and our hearts are sad

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When we are feeling lonely or far away from our friends

We hope in you, and hang on to You

When times are good and we start to forget You

We hope in you, and hang on to You

Amen
