The higher board of Arab engineers union in the eight follow up session meeting held in Tripoli in October 1991 has decided to establish the engineering information center belonging to the Arab union with its seat in Tripoli the great Jamahiria.

The engineering information center was established by a decision from the higher board of Arab engineers union in its ordinary session (Forty Sixth) held in Baghdad in 28/2/1992.

Its statute was approved in the meeting of the higher board in the (9th) follow-up session held in Tunis on 29/9/1992.

The center aims to form a kind of a source to supply the specialized with information’s necessary in different engineering work fields, and to facilitate the reach of these information’s to different places in the Arab world in an effort to develop this vital sector, trough making plans and programs necessary for cooperation and exchange of experience, Data, Information’s and studies with general information centers and institutions with similar activity, and also to contact the specialized parties general and private and to contact the Arab universities and research centers, in the Arab world in a way that enabled, the organization and arrangement of the reach of the information’s to the beneficiaries.

The center also cooperates with the other international information banks in the world and helps the Arab engineer to deal with the other foreign experiences in the different specialties.

 

Some of the activates of the center:

1.     All data, information’s, statistics, and documents concerned with the activates and its classifications.

2.     Putting plans and programs for cooperation and exchange of experiences, data, information’s and studies with the other information centers and institutions of similar activity inside and outside the Arab world.

3.     The regulation of the flow of information and data according the unified index, and the supply of the concerned parties according to the technical basics defined in this matter.

4.     The translation of the scientific books magazine and periodic in connection to the Arabic language.

5.     The participation in meetings, conferences, and symposia held by the unions and organizations in connection with this activity.
