so tidy engine bay during 360 V8 swap into Karmann Javelin!
If anyone tells you you can't swap engines single-handedly, don't believe them, I did this one all by myself in a tiny asbestos garage not much longer than the car itself! It takes some planning, willpower, and about two months of weekends and evenings, but it can definitely be done if you're careful. I hired a hydraulic engine crane to lift the engine out, after separating and dropping the transmission from beneath. Lots of measuring and fabricating new mounts for the engine, gearbox and exhauststo get it all where I wanted, then the hardest part was getting the bonnet (sorry, hood!) back on! No, on second thoughts, getting it to run with the new carb was quite hard too, but not in the same way I suppose. Quite satisfying when it was all finished and running again though!
