Back a Standard

Standard before cutting,
allow the compost to
dry out slightly, so that the sap doesn't drip from the cut branches.
The head is reduced
by one third
Try and achieve a balanced
shape,
do not hurry this cutting back,
you can take off but cannot put back.
When the Standard is
reduced,
proceed to take off the leaves
This cutting back technique
is exactly the same as for a bush that you intend growing on in the following
year.
Once all the leaves
are off, spray everything with insecticide and fungicide.
