Welcome

I live in Ashford, Kent, and apart from now living less than 5 miles from my birthplace, have lived here all my life. Thats not to say that I havn't travelled, spent 6 years during the early 70's crossing the oceans of the world with P & O (Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co Ltd) - rather a grand old company name.
Watch this space - there is a book pending on my experiences from my Merchant Navy days.

Ashford has has at least one claim to fame. it's the home of the International Station for the Channel Tunnel (Le Shuttle\Eurostar) and was also formally the home of A.I.B.S. (Ashford International Building Site) the support pages for Zetnet Atarians {A.I.B.S. is a play on words} the support site is now at Atari Support Page

So what do I spend my time doing?

Hobbies include

Afraid the latter ones takes second place these days to the computer.
First started like most users,on the B.B.S. systems, just the downloading side, then moved on to the 'net. First attempts with a months trial with Demon and the AtariNOS, ugh!
Then I joined Zetnet, and the set-up procedure was a lot less painful especially with the friendly help I received.

I have also turned by hand to a bit of writing recently, this came about because of the lack of a manual for setting up the Atari programs.
P.C. users with Zetnet get a Zimacs manual for setting up the programs, we sadly just get a brief set of notes from the Support and the notes that accompany the programs themselves. These are written by the programmers, and not always the easiest to follow. Thats not to say they are not useful in their own right and can be helpful, but are in most cases of a technical nature. What I wanted was something easy to chart my progress and screen shots to show what was going on, so I set about writing something myself

We now have our own "Guide"
Suffice to say that the venture wasn't taken onboard by Zetnet due to financial constraints, but it has survived as Users Guide to the Internet for Atari
