Calluna vulgaris 'Melanie'

Long racemes of white buds (f. diplocalyx) which fail to open, Aug-Nov, with dark green ciliate foliage. Erect habit. Ideal for cut flower. An outstanding new introduction produced by deliberate crossing of 'Marleen' and 'Hammondii'. It is a fantasy name, i.e. not named after anyone in particular. Progeny: 'Anette', 'Babette'; 'Claudette'; 'Monja'; 'Sandy' Ht. 31-45cm. Spd. 31-45cm.
