Sparse, slightly scented white flowers, Mar-May, with yellow foliage all year being brightest in winter and spring. Found as a sport on Erica arborea var. alpina by Albert Turner, Birmingham, England. Ht. > 100cm. Spd. 75-100cm.
White flowers, Mar-May, in close cylindrical inflorescences with mid-green foliage. Collected in the Cuenca mountains of central Spain by the German, Georg Dieck, over 100 years ago! As we are unsure whether he collected one clone or several, it should be considered as var. alpina. Much hardier than the type. Progeny: 'Albert's Gold' Ht. > 100cm. Spd. 75-100cm.
White flowers in profusion, April-May, with lime green foliage with bright yellow new growth. Broad compact habit. Hardy. Found in Sierra da Estrela, Coimbra, Portugal in 1972 by R. Zwijnenburg and introduced first in the Netherlands. Ht. > 100cm. Spd. 61-75cm.
Pure white flowers, Apr-May, with dark green foliage. It has a more erect habit than var. alpina. Hardy. Found in Picos de Europa, northern Spain by Terry Underhill, he collected what appeared to be a dwarf form but in fact had been grazed by cattle! Ht. > 100cm. Spd. 61-75cm.
A few white flowers, Mar - May, with gold to lime-green foliage. It has a slightly more open habit than 'Albert's Gold' but as hardy. It was found as a seedling by David McClintock, Charles Nelson and David Small at Alto de Campou, Spain in 1982. Ht. 200cm. Spd. 150cm.
White flowers, Apr-May, with soft light green foliage which is tipped pinkish yellow in early winter. Tender, and can only be grown outside in the mildest of climates. Ht. > 100cm. Spd. 75-100cm.
