'Cow-y-Jack'

Sparse pink (H8) flowers, Jul-Oct, with mid-green foliage tipped a brilliant yellow in spring. Open spreading. By far the best spring tipped E. x williamsii. Found at Cow-y-Jack near Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall, England. Ht. 21-25cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'Croft Pascoe'

Pink flowers, Jul-Oct, with mid-green foliage exhibiting yellow tips in spring. Found near Croft Pascoe Pool, The Lizard, Cornwall, England in 1981 Mrs Cherry Turpin. Ht. 21-25cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'David Coombe'

Shell pink (H16) flowers, Jul-Oct, with mid-green foliage with marked new yellow growth in spring. Similar to, but more upright than 'Gwavas'. Found by David Coombe in the Lizard National Nature Reserve near Penhale, Cornwall, England. The original plant destroyed by fire in 1976. Ht. 26-30cm. Spd. 46-60cm.

'Gew Graze'

Pale pink flowers, Jul-Nov, with mid-green foliage. Broad upright habit. One of the better cultivars for spring foliage. Found at Gew Graze on The Lizard, Cornwall, England, by Mrs Jean Paton, Mrs Barbara Garratt and Mrs J. Yorston in 1974. The original plant was destroyed by harrowing in 1976. Ht. 21-25cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'Gold Button'Photo!

Very few lilac flowers (H4), Aug-Sep, with golden yellow foliage. Very compact growth and very slow growing. A deliberate cross between E. tetralix 'Alba Mollis' and E. vagans 'Valerie Proudley' produced by John Griffiths, Yorkshire, England. He was able to prove with this cultivar that not all hybrids are more vigorous than their parents. Ht. < 10cm. Spd. 10-15cm.

'Gwavas'

Shell pink (H16) flowers, Jul-Nov, on mid-grey green foliage with the new growth in spring being yellow. Found by Miss Waterer on Goonhilly Downs, Cornwall, when staying at Gwavas Farm, near Cadgwith. Ht. 16-20cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'Jean Julian'

Pink (H8) flowers, Jul-Nov, on mid-green foliage. The new growth in spring is yellow and persists well into summer. Neat semi-prostrate habit. Found by Jean Julian at Kynance Cove, Cornwall, England, in 1999 being only the 12th naturally occurring hybrid to be found. Ht. 10-15cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'Ken Wilson'

Clear magenta (H14) flowers without a trace of blue, Jul-Nov, fading to shell pink (H16) with mid-green foliage. The foliage does not exhibit the spring tips that some others of this species do but the flower colour needs to be seen to be believed. Compact spreading habit. Raised at Sardis, British Columbia, Canada, by David Wilson by 1992, it is a cross between Erica tetralix 'Hookstone Pink' and Erica vagans 'Mrs. D.F. Maxwell'. It is named after the raiser's father. Ht. 26-30cm. Spd. 46-60cm.

'Lizard Downs'

Pale pink flowers, Aug-Oct, with grey green foliage. Compact spreading habit. Found near Kynance Cove on the Lizard peninsula, Cornwall, England , it was only the sixth hybrid ever to be found in the wild. Ht. 31-45cm. Spd. 46-60cm.

'Marion Hughes'

Pale pink flowers, Aug-Nov, on mid-green foliage tipped yellow during spring. Broad upright habit. Found south of Leech Pool on the Lizard, Cornwall, England, by Miss Marion Hughes in 1982. Ht. 21-25cm. Spd. 31-45cm.

'P. D. Williams'AGM

Lilac pink (H11) flowers, Jul-Nov, on mid-green foliage tipped yellow during spring. Found by P. D. Williams near Trelan Farm, Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall on the same day as Erica vagans 'St. Keverne'! Ht. 21-25cm. Spd. 31-45cm.
