Another abstract which derives directly from the fantastic forms of the trunk and branches of this very old yew tree. The carving is designed to work not only with the wonderfully varied grain structure, but also to make use of the beautiful colour contrast between the yellow sapwood and the reddish-brown heartwood. The finished sculpture seemed to suggest the family unit, with its essential unity containing a plethora of individuals exhibiting wide variations.

This sculpture was exhibited at the  1997 Scottish Society of Artists Exhibition in Edinburgh, and is now on permanent loan to the art collection of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Edinburgh.
