As Llanrug draws near to the end of term there look set to be a few changes at the start of next term.

Simon Allfree who has been at the centre for the last four years will be leaving. Simon came to the Centre in September 1995 immediately after finishing his degree. After spending a year as a trainee, Simon progressed through several different posts to end up working as a full member of teaching staff for the last twelve months. He has just obtained a full time teaching post at Rhos-y-Gwalia Outdoor Education Trust, a Local Education Authority Centre run for Berkshire County Council. Simon will be missed for many reasons particularly for his enthusiasm for all forms of paddle sport and his ability to place certain members of staff into freezers and cardboard boxes, not to mention consuming vast quantities of centre flapjack.

Mark Cox is also moving on from the centre. Mark has spent the last year as one of the Centres trainee instructors, and has just got a job teaching English at a school in Birmingham. Mark has had a highly constructive impact on the Centre in his short time here and will no longer be seen shuffling about mug of coffee in hand at all times of the day and night.

A further change at the Centre will be the addition of a new member to the staff team. Sam Allfree (spot the family connection) first came into contact with the centre as a pupil at The Leys High School. She has also spent a year working at the centre as a trainee instructor (1996-97). Sam has just obtained a BSc in Sport and is we are reliably informed looking forward to working at Llanrug again.
