The farmstead Kersccott is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The present house dates from the early 16th century with parts from an earlier period, full of beams, sloping floors, a branch staircase and many, many original features. Once thatched, the house is now under slate, is 'L' shaped and still retains its original walled garden and cobbled stone paths.

The spacious comfortable sitting room has a large inglenook fireplace fitted with a log burning stove. This room is ideal for reading or just relaxing. All meals are served in our charming olde worlde dining room which is heavily beamed, with a pretty inglenook fireplace retaining two bread ovens from different periods and still fitted with many old cooking implements. A special feature of this room is a Devon Cob cream oven, fortunately surviving after many centuries.
Sylvia and I have stayed in this farmhouse and found it not only excellent accommodation but it was fascinating to have meals in the same room as William, John and Henry lived and brought up their children in the 16th century.
