Andrew Lornie, has the unfortunate distinction of being the goalkeeper on the wrong side of the world scoring record. This was achieved on September 12th, 1885 When Arbroath beat Aberdeen Bon-Accord 36-0 in a Scottish Cup first-round tie.
According to a contemporary newspaper report the match against Bon-Accord was the "most amusing" seen in Arbroath.
The report in the " The Arbroath Guide" states: " The meeting of these teams in the first round of the Scottish Cup ties was expected to end in an easy win for Arbroath, but few antisipated the farse enacted at Gayfield last Saturday..."
" There could scarcely be said to have been any play shown on the part of the Bon-Accord, and from the beginning of the game the goals began to accumilate at an alarming rate."
To be fair, it has to be said that Bon-Accord were just a bunch of working lads who decided to form a team, whereas Arbroath were an estabished club.

GOAL SCORING
Teams :- The highest score recorded in a first-class match is 36. This occurred in the Scottish Cup match between Arbroath and Bon-Accord on 12th September 1885, when Arbroath won 36-0 on their home ground. But for the lack of nets and the consequent waste of retrieval time the score could have been even higher. Seven further goals were disallowed for offside.
Individual :- 13 John Petrie for Arbroath v Bon-Accord on 12 Sept. 1885.
