Whilst this hardly classifies as completely new music, it is so often played and sung in such a turgid way as to defeat the whole object of its use! This adaptation and arrangement may not be completely authentic, but is an example of how some of the essential vitality of the setting can be achieved.

There is also an MP3 (2.4MB) from the "Reflection On Hymns Of Our Time" album that can be downloaded by clicking here.

Words (traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
(Hallowed be thy name)
On the earth as it is in heaven.
(Hallowed be thy name)
Give us this day our daily bread.
(Hallowed be thy name)
And forgive us all our trespasses
(Hallowed be thy name)
Only as we forgive those who trespass against us.
(Hallowed be thy name)
And lead us not into temptation,
(Hallowed be thy name)
Oh no, but deliver us from all that is evil.
(Hallowed be thy name)
Everybody sing, for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
(Hallowed be thy name)
For ever and for ever and ever.
(Hallowed be thy name)
- optional instrumental -
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
(Amen, amen, it shall be so!)
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Hallowed be thy name (x3)
