This was written specifically for a worship-stlye presentation, "Hosanna - A Portait of Jesus", in London back in 1972. I'd always wanted to write a proper Christian rock song and this seemed the right subject.
We recorded the whole occasion, initially just to retain the memory, but subsequently felt it was just about good enough to issue a recording for others to share. The MP3 that you can download here is from that live recording, with all its faults.
Well it beats in his temples and pounds in his brain, He sees so many people in so much pain. It's so hard, Hard to stay close to the Father at these times. It's so hard to stay close to the Father at these times. Pursued by his people wherever he goes, Yet bearing a burden that no-one knows. It's so hard, Hard to stay close to the Father at these times. It's so hard to stay close to the Father at these times. It might have made it easier if men could understand The purpose of his travels throughout the land. To realise that hatred would quickly banish cheers, The sadness of that knowledge brought him tears. © 1972 Reflection Christian Music
