The Lassodie No. 6 Pit was probably sunk in the mid-late 1860s and appears to have worked into the 1880s. Exact dates are not known at this stage for this pit which was located just over ½ mile to the west of Lassodie Mains, and ¼ mile south of Braehead.

Information on coal seams worked at, or near, Lassodie No. 6 Pit

(based on a report from 1934)

In the west, Nos. 6 and 7 Pits, Lassodie, were sunk in the centre of a syncline in which the highest beds belonged to the Main group of coals.
The Mynheer Coal was mainly a bright, hard, steam coal but it was somewhat thin at Lassodie, having its best development here in the west of the northern basin of the Lassodie coalfield, in a small syncline around the No. 6 Pit, where it reached 3 ft. 3 in. thick.
The Glassee Coal was of fair quality and was usually a thick seam. Formerly it was not recognised as the Glassee Coal of Dunfermline but was locally referred to as Eight Foot Coal. In the west at No. 6 Pit, and in a surface mine south of the pit, it measured 6 ft. 4 in. with a splint band in the centre.
