Owners: Lassodie Coal Co.
Very little is known about the Lassodie No. 8 Pit which
was located at the northern tip of North Loch Wood, to the
south-west of Whinnyhall. A single entry in a record of 1881
indicates that the No. 8 worked the Splint seam at a depth of
20 fathoms. The workforce of 125 (underground) and 26
(surface) was split between the No. 8 and No. 9 pits of the
colliery, the latter working the 5 feet seam.
No reference to the No. 8 pit appears in the record of
1882.
