The Little Gig Pit was an early pit of the Lumphinnans Colliery and probably worked
ironstone and coal. Considering the pit name and the locations mined, as indicated in the
abandonment plans, we would suggest that the old pit to the north of the Stair Pit but
south of the Old Gig Pit is the likely location of the 'Little Gig'.
