About This Site

It is for any one who would like to communicate with deaf people and learn the basic finger language. I feel it goes a small way towards this and if you think of ways to improve this site, please feel free to contact me by e-mail (address is on the Menu Bar.)
If teachers would like to see more updates of the 'guess the word' list I would be only too happy to oblige them.

It has also being pointed out to me that there are some regional variations with the numbers in the language, but as BSL seems to be the standard, that will be the one I will try to use.

Here are some of the comments that have been received about this site.

The example certainly seems like a good idea, as it could be downloaded and used by a class off-line (cheaper that way) to learn finger spelling in small groups (even as part of the Literacy Hour!). I can certainly see a good use for it. Good luck!

Andrew

Thank you very much for this wonderful page, I've just spent 20 minutes learning and practicing sign language, and I really feel I have learned a lot in a very short time. Beautiful job. Thank you

I went to see a play last night and it was interpreted by a man doing BSL. I watched him more than I watched the play. I decided then and there to learn at least the basics of BSL. I have been on about 50 web pages and sites and this is by far the best. Thankyou very much, this has taught me the alphabet and numbers in a very short amount of time. Keep up the excellent work.
