FLOWER CUP COMPETITION

CLASS

  1. One Rose.
  2. Four single specimen Roses of different varieties.

  7. Vase/Bowl 3 varieties of cut flowers.

  10. One Pot Plant in Flower.
  11. One Pot Plant Foliage only.
  12. A Posy.
  13. A Posy for the Blind.

  15. Miniature arrangement of flowers, foliage, etc. NOT exceeding 6 inches in height and diameter.

  17. An arrangement of flowers incorporating a shoe or boot.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE CUP COMPETITION

  1. Two kinds of fruit staged in one dish.
  2. Twelve Gooseberries.
  3. Six sticks of Rhubarb.
  4. Bunch of six Radish.
  5. Six new Potatoes.
  6. Bunch of twelve Spring Onions.
  7. Six Onions cut and tied.
  8. Six Carrots cut and bunched.
  9. Pair of Lettuce.
  10. Three varieties of vegetables three of each.
  11. Bottle of Home-Made Wine. State type on label.
  12. One Jar of Home-Made Jam. State type on label.

GORDON CROWSON AWARD

  1. Cheese Scones

    Makes 8 scones. Show only 5 only the plate.

    Ingredients:
    • 175g Self Raising Flour,
    • Pinch of salt and pepper,
    • ½ teaspoon mustard powder,
    • 25g margarine,
    • 75g matured cheddar cheese grated,
    • milk to mix

    Heat oven to 220ºC, 425ºF, Gas mark 7. Grease a baking tray. Mix flour and seasoning, rub in margarine. Stir in cheese keeping a little for topping. Mix to a soft dough with the milk, keeping a little for glazing. Roll out to a round ½ inch in thickness and cut into 8 triangles. Place on the baking tray and brush with milk and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake for about 10 - 15 minutes until golden brown.

  • Class 13 - Design and make a bookmark
  • Class 14 - A posy for a bridesmaid
  • Class 15 - Weedus majesticus - bring your best weed!

Prizes

  • Certificates will be awarded for all classes
  • The Flower Cup and Fruit and Vegetable Cup will be awarded to the
  • individual gaining the most points in the respective sections.
  • The Rose Plate will be awarded for the Best Rose in the Show.
  • The Sweet Pea Plate will be awarded for the best Sweet Pea in the Show.
  • Tankard will be awarded for the best exhibit in classes 18-27
  • The Wine Trophy will be awarded for the best Wine in the Show.
  • The Gordon Crowson Award for the winner of class 30.
  • The Parish award for the best single vegtable grown on DSJ Allotments.
  • All awards will be held for ONE year only.
  • Children’s Classes: Certificates will be awarded.

Entries are limited to residents of The Deepings, others whose names are on the Priory Church Electoral Roll and members of the Priory youth and childrens groups.

Entries should be made at the Church on Friday 27th June between 7:00 & 8:00pm

Competitors may stage exhibits in the Church on Saturday 28th June between 9:30 & 11:30am. They should be removed following the prize giving.

Any Exhibitor not requiring his/her produce after the show should let this be known at the time of entry.

The organizers, whilst taking every care, can not take responsibility for loss or damage to items brought for display.

Grand Draw

Tickets for the Grand Draw are now available from Alison. The first prize is an Epson colour printer/scanner/copier worth just under £100, generously donated by Tesco Market Deeping. Donations of other prizes are invited: please ring Alison on 345890 if you would like to give a prize.

We are grateful to Rainbow Foodstores for sponsoring the printing of the draw tickets, and to the anonymous donors of the 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Travel

Parking in the streets around the Church, Hall and Vicarage is free, and there is free space in the Church Hall car park, but demand is usually heavy so please walk, cycle or use the bus if you can. If you need to bring a car then please park without obstructing other traffic. If you need to park close in order to bring bulky things, please move your vehicle away from the entrance gates when you have unloaded.

Bus routes 12 and 100 operate from/to Market Deeping, 12 from/to Peterborough 100 from/to Spalding. The entrance to the Fete is served by the stop at The Cross: buses stop at the gate.
