Postcards from Scotland by Ogilvies

7) Ben Nevis, mountain peak, near Fort William in the west of Scotland. The peak lies in the Grampian Mountains. Its height is 1343 m (4406 ft), and it has a precipice of about 460 m (about 1500 ft) on the northeastern side.   It's a beautiful sight and in soft summer days it appears inviting and benign.   Don't underestimate the mountain though, at any time.   It claims lives of climbers in all twelve months and if one is not too careful it can provide very dangerous situations for even the moBen Nevis - be careful if you climb it at any time of year!st experienced climbers.  Come and see it but be careful if you decide to climb but be sure and send this postcard to some of your fellow travelers.

8) Urquhart Castle Urquhart Castle at Drumnadrochit on Loch Nesson Loch Ness has been in better condition but age affects us all in some very uncomplimentary ways.   That's no reason to avoid this great scenic area when moving through Scotland as you will no doubt have your camera handy, just in case that other occupant of the Loch decides to show him/her self.   Don't be cynical when you get here as you will find many more folks hoping for a glimpse of 'Nessie' and to get her/him onto film.    You will find the nearby village of Drumnadrochit to be one of great hospitality and you will find a very warm welcome up and down Loch Ness.    From the fine city of Inverness at the north end to the famous Fort Augustus at the south end you will meet great Scots and depending on the time of year probably some fine pipe music as well.
