The Dhammacakkha at Buddha Montone

A huge Wheel of Truth or Dhammacakkha carved in stone and set on a small island at the Buddha Montone park.

These are pictures of an Image of the Buddha carved into a mountain face near Sathaheep, along the coast to the East of Bangkok.

Images at a mountain and cave monastery in NE Thailand.

These ancient images are accompanied by
a modern image of Ven. Ajahn Chah.

Monks soon after dawn receiving alms in a village in NE Thailand.

And in a market town.

Back at the monastery, the bowls having been emptied and the food received pooled and arranged it is now offered back.

Forest monks normally eat from their bowl.

Afterwards the bowls are washed and dried. This is one of many duties performed by juniors for seniors. Here the bowls are being left in the sun for a few minutes prior to having the covers replaced and being put away.

Forest monks' robes are dyed using the heartwood of the jack-fruit tree. It's hacked into woodchips and then boiled down for hours to extract the dye.

You can just see the jack-fruit
growing on the side
of the tree.

Here is a bowl of dye.

You can see the reddish heartwood in these logs.

Examples of a forest monk's kuti (hut).

Inside this small, simple kuti you can see the crot (umbrella) from which is suspended a nosquito net.

Bhikkhus (Buddhist monks) assembled for the recitation of the Patimokkha, their fundamental rule which has to be recited twice in each lunar month where four or more bhikkhus are available.
