Cruise of 2001

 Oban Distillery
In 2001 we joined the Classic Malts cruise. The cruise had three meeting points starting with the initial muster at Oban distillery. The second muster was held one week later at Talasker Distillery on Loch Harport on the West coast of Skye. The final muster was held at Lagavulin Distillery on the Islay. At each muster we were treated to superb hospitality and with the sailing it was a truly memorable experience.

Prior to the opening muster at Oban we sailed from the Clyde through the Crinan canal stopping at Tarbert and Crinan itself before proceeding onto Croabh Haven.

It was at Croabh Haven that we saw another Nicholson boat in the form of Velsheda, one of the J class boats.  Sound of Mull After Oban we sailed up the Sound of Mull to Tobermory,

then around Ardnamurchan to Arisaig where we spent a couple of days in calm sunny weather.

From Arisaig we headed to Loch Harport on Skye. A feature of this holiday was that when we wanted to progress North we had Northerlies and when it was time to go South we had Southerlies and the passage to Loch Harport was no different with us being close hauled all the way into a choppy sea.

 Canna Harbour

After the superb hospitality of Talisker we turned South stopping at Canna for a night.

With a less than promising forecast, from Canna we took the Sound of Mull South stopping at Tobermory again but eventually heading for one of our favourite anchorages, Loch Tarbert on Jura.

From Jura we sailed to the final meeting at Lagavulin on Islay. From Islay we rounded to the Mull of Kintyre stopping at Campbelltown then back to Largs.
