When removing
the plastic covering that had been there since the boat was first
built in 1973 we discovered a layer of sponge which had been
glued on, (What a mess). This had to be scraped off and then
sanded see Pic 1 2 3& 4

The next task was
to wash and paint the hull sides. For this we selected a paint
resistant to moisture and mildew (Zinsser Perma-White Interior)
which we bought from NWE Paints Ltd. We also used this paint
for the vinyl on the bulkhead. Picture 5 shows the hull sides
before painting. Picture 6 shows the sides painted and the first
piece of vinyl leatherette being glued on

The next step
was to glue on the sponge around the window and to the sides.

to the anchor well Pic 8 and the window sides Pic 9.

The final stage
was to replace the side and roof panels, These we had taken home
previously to cover. The bulkhead already had vinyl on it we
thought this might be difficult to remove so we paint it.
What a relief
it was when it was finished. It was a lot of work but well worth
it.
The final phase of
the refurbishment will be in March 2010, when we fit new bunks
with 6 inch foam and new upholstery.
