Within the remit of Christianity this is not only difficult; Christians will make sure that it seems difficult. One simple suggestion is that they abandon the idea that the Bible is the inspired word of God. In practice, this idea leads either to the absurdities of literalism or to the indignities of making scripture mean what you want it to mean. If you see the Bible as a fallible human construction about the impact of a perceived god then the intellect, Christian or otherwise, is free to be honest and therefore capable of generating credibility.
The Bible is the problem rather than the solution.
