PRO-LIFE TURNS INTO ANTI-LIFE

I think that Professor J.P. Duguid is right to advocate population control. 'Nature' (in quotes, to signify shorthand metaphor as distinct from closet theism) 'balances' reproductive surplus and resources deficit by means of disease and disaster of various kinds.

This mechanism is so palpably cruel and wasteful that it only permits me to envisage a creator, planning it all, on the assumption that he is, himself, cruel and wasteful. I reject belief in 'god' for that sort of reason just as people reject atheism because they are persuaded that God is good - commonsense evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

'Nature' is in charge and if we combat physiological disease to such an extent that 'her balance' is aborted then our behavioural diseases (also part of nature) take over; too many people depending on too little resources restore the 'balance' by the natural expedient of trying to deprive or kill one another.

This diseased behaviour (and the institutions that generate it) can only be countered by promoting the corresponding behavioural health; control population and you can control human mutual destruction; if you don't then you can't.

'Pro-life' is, objectively, anti-life for many and anti-quality-of-life for many more. Yours sincerely,
