| REPORTS OF MY DEATH HAVE BEEN HIGHLY EXAGGERATED... |
| Remember that old psychology experiment, where you tell the person next to you a short story, and they pass it on to the next, and so on, and when it gets to the end of the line the story is totally different? That's how rumours start. I happened to mention to someone once that I wanted to start cutting back on con appearances... doing Myhr is physically demanding {I'm not as young as I used to be}, and there are a lot of other things in life I want to pursue before I get called to that big convention in the sky {I think the phrase I jokingly used was "sometimes I'd like to kill off Myhr..."}. It wasn't long before I started getting calls from conventions around the country that wanted to sign me up before Myhr disappeared! Word had spread that I was getting rid of Myhr! No, not putting him to rest, but I AM being a lot more choosy in which shows I will attend. I'm also cutting back on sending artwork to artshows... it's become too risky. Even with signed contracts, if the artshow director decides to screw you, there's not much you can do when you're out of state. And for some reason, that's been happening more and more lately. Art, to me, is a hobby, not a job...when it stops being fun, I stop painting. One of the reasons I went into "hiding" the last part of '98 was too many people wanted a piece of my time, and I have only so much to give... |
problems with some artshows killed
my desire to paint {I didn't pick up a brush in 4 months!}... reorganization at my "real" job created a heavier workload and more
stress. I needed to get away, but I had no vacation time available; I had used it all to do conventions and artshows. So I just
closed up and went inside...
But I read all the correspondence that came my way, both email and snail mail. There were some who were offended by my
silence, but there were a good many who were worried and showed concern, yet at the same time understood my need for
some solitude. They say it's the hard times that show who your true friends are, and I must say I found that I'm truly blessed!
I'm lucky to have some really marvelous people that have touched my life!
Things are finally getting back on track...I'm painting again, and I'm in better shape {mentally and physically} to handle Myhr
when he gets carried away!! {Geez, this split personality thing really wears you down...!!!}
I hope I get to see each and every one of you personally this year... if not this year, then next. I may be cutting back,
but I'll still be around for a while, stirring up trouble, stirring up paints, and on the prowl for some good hugs!

Since his arrival in this time frame, MYHR has
made quite an impression on the populace.
(Good or bad remains to be seen). Using a Midwest television station as home base, Myhr has made appearances around the world, inspiring the people to make use of all of their creative talents, and to make sure they have fun at the same time. Traveling to a variety of different sci-fi fantasy conventions, Myhr has been able to convey his message through his entertaining emcee work. In the late 21st Century, after the perfection of cloning and genetic engineering came the combination 'geneticloning'. A cell from Myhr's intellect was genetically treated to make it less gregarious and outspoken. Grown on in the laboratory, the resultant geneticlone is MyhrLyn who is normally referred to as Myhr's 'niece'. The genetic alteration was too radical and not only reduced the outrageous personality but the size and confidence also. Unlike Myhr, MyhrLyn is shy, reticent and rarely makes public appearances. When she does she is more likely to be seen at a table or in a corner than onstage. |
| She followed her uncle Myhr back through the time vortex because she could not face life as one-of-a-kind in their own time once it became clear that he would not return. MyhrLyn has been sighted twice in Manchester, England: once in 1997 and again in 1998. There have been no other reports which leads us to believe that she is living as a recluse somewhere in the north of England. Whoever is looking after her is keeping very quiet about it! |  |
