Myhr's Message:
ADVENTURES... SOMETIMES!
One of the big advantages of being a guest at a convention or charity event is that you get to go to places you would not normally get to go to...one of the big DISadvantages of being a guest at a convention or charity event is that you rarely get to SEE the places you would not normally get to go to!

"Oh sure," you say..."HE gets expenses-paid trips around the world!" True, but I'm hired to work, not vacation {although there are many so-called celebrity guests who DO vacation at the expense of the event}. I fly in, get picked up at the airport and taken to the hotel, work my ass off for the weekend, then back to the airport once the event is over. And, as a guest, I'm working double-duty, too...as Myhr, making sure the attendees are enjoying themselves, and as Jamie, playing the part of illustrator, make-up artist, and dealer.

It's not too often that I get the opportunity to get away and see anything other than the hotel grounds.
Recently, I was privileged to be one of the "celebrity guests" at the annual BEAUTY AND THE BEAST convention, held this year in Orlando, Florida, home to DisneyWorld, Universal Studios, and many other wonderful vacation sites. But I had a full plate of activities to keep me at the hotel for the entire weekend {and my personal schedule wasn't going to allow me to spend any extra days in Orlando}...it was frustrating to look out my hotel window and see Universal Studios across the highway!

Well, Paulette and Buddy Edwards would have none of that! Paulette runs the Edward Albert fanclub {as well as being Edward's business assistant}, and they were at the con because Edward was one of the guests. On Sunday, after Edward took off for home at the close of the convention, Paulette and Buddy wanted to have dinner with me so we could catch up on all the latest {I've known them for 6 years, but our hectic schedules don't allow for much socializing}. So we hopped in the car and took off for a quiet evening out... NOT!

a quiet evening out.. .. NOT! continued from page 1

You see, I was still in the Myhr personna, and they decided it would be fun to have dinner at Downtown Disney, a strip of restaurants and shops adjacent to DisneyWorld! I was actually going to see DisneyWorld {well, kinda...I was in spitting distance of the park, but coming all the way from Texas, that was pretty cool!}. We were like three little kids, we were having so much fun!

I was stopped by almost every tourist we passed, to have my picture taken! One park employee, when she found out Paulette was associated with Edward Albert, started asking a gazillion questions on how to make it in Hollywood! One family, getting a group photo taken in front of one of the sites, will be surprised when they get their pictures back, to see a big cat jumping up and down behind them! Myhr was offered a job by a Disney headhunter {thanx, but no thanx!}!

We finally decided on a restaurant {House of Blues}, but there was quite a wait period for a table so Myhr decided to explore the restaurant, harrasing people as they tried to eat, hitting on the waitresses, and, of course, being photographed with tourists! I can just picture Paulette and Buddy trying to explain to the stunned manager {geez, we just can't take him ANYWHERE...!!!}.
Finally, a table opened and we were seated next to a young couple on their honeymoon {I'd love to hear them try to explain to their families their "interesting" photos in their wedding album!}. A group of computer geeks, in town for a convention, were NOT amused when Myhr plopped down at their table! And the little kids...this being Disney country, there were kids up the ying-yang {many from foreign countries and having a hard enough time getting by on a few sentences of English}...some laughed, some cried, some hugged, some ran away...it was non-stop!

The meal finished, we headed back to the parking lot...it was dark out, the shops were starting to close. That's when it happened. We crossed paths with a tour group from Brazil...about 40 or 50 {seemed like a hundred!} teenage girls {who seemed MUCH older!}, who acted like Myhr was a rock star {or something}, and they all had to be photographed with the big cat. ONE BY ONE...

Poor Paulette and Buddy...occasionally I would sneak a peak over my shoulder and see them patiently standing by...not at all bored but thoroughly enjoying the torture Myhr was going through!

We got back to the hotel very late {which made for a VERY long day in makeup and contact lenses}, but I wouldn't have missed that for the world! It was great to get away from the hotel and see a part of a "foreign" city I wouldn't normally get to see, but it was especially wonderful to have shared this unique adventure with two very special friends!

But next time, Paulette and Buddy, bring your camera!

Ron Perlman, who played Vincent
with David Schwartz (producer) and Jamie
at the con in Orlando

Ron didn't have very long to look round the artshow at the con in Orlando.
He made a few comments when he saw Jamie's work I thought you'd like to share.

Masks -
He liked this one best of all.

She Calls -
He tried hard to convince David Schwartz that he actually posed for this one himself!

Well Groomed!

Have you ever wondered how Myhr stays so well groomed??
Well… now the secret is revealed!! It's because he has an army of volunteer groomers all over the world who are ready to spring into action at a moments notice so that our favourite cat can be the smartest cat in town wherever he goes!

Giving away
my secrets again!!!
We interviewed one such lady; Mary Tummon, who lives in Birmingham, England. She told us how the call came to go to Manchester last May…
''When grooming Myhr… first catch your Myhr!''

He likes to bring a blanket with him… he is very shy and needs the solace it provides. Fortunately a bath was not necessary on this occasion as these can be lengthy and there wasn't really enough time to do it properly!

Brushes: Pure bristle is best - Mary has a beautiful pearl-handled brush which she saves exclusively for Myhr. ''Sadly it doesn't get used very often!!''
She also uses a fine-toothed comb which is metal but care has to be taken not to damage any tender places and if there are knots in his fur these must be teased out very gently.
''Never cut his whiskers - he needs them!!!''

Like all cats use their whiskers to gauge which spaces they can crawl through, so Myhr need his whiskers to help him judge what he can get away with!

Claws: These wear away naturally and rarely need clipping. If they do it must be done carefully as Myhr has artists hands and they must not be damaged.

Eyes: To keep the eyes bright and moist, drops need to be applied. This must be done at regular intervals, not only during grooming… but, unsurprisingly, there is no shortage of volunteers to look into his eyes and administer the drops!!

The appreciative ''purrrrr'' is Mary's reward. Er… she is the one doing the purring by the way! :-)
