The world of the taxi driver has been the subject of a hit TV show and one of the all-time classic movies. It now crosses over into computer gaming with Crazy Taxi. Already a huge hit in the arcades Crazy Taxi on the Dreamcast is a faithful conversion of this madcap game with an entire extra city!

The gameplay is simple; you are a taxi driver and must drive people where they want to go. However, like most people in taxis, they are in a hurry and so you only have a limited time in which to get them to their destination. This involves driving like a mad thing. There is no law chasing you so the game resembles an out and out racer in this respect, and you're only goal is to make it on time.

As you drive around town there are bonuses to pick up, stunts to pull and tips to be earned. Your passenger will give you more money if you successfully pull off a spectacular manoeuvre without causing any damage. You will also pick up bonuses if you discover short-cuts.

The city is very large and a cross between San Francisco and Miami with rolling hills and luxurious beaches. There are plenty of nooks and crannies for you to explore. You can duck down alleyways, take a short cut through a shopping mall, even jump off a multi-storey car park.

The beauty of Crazy Taxi is in the details; the mad dash of the pedestrian as they hurl themself out of the way and the way your passengers complain about your driving and gesture frantically when you go the wrong way. Everywhere offers and opportunity.
