
Chartered Librarian and Accredited Indexer. Prepared to consider any task requiring skills in organising information, locating information, or the making of tools (indexes, keywords, classifications, etc.) to help others locate it.
Will work with almost any form of text or collection. Experience includes indexing of books, library collections, product literature collections, Web sites, and the journal of a family history society.
Subject range is equally wide. Most can be tackled at general or popular level. Strengths include the construction industry, literature (especially British and Scandinavian), librarianship, Scandinavia, Viking history, and the Northern Isles of Scotland.
Indexes are created with the help of Macrex software, and can be supplied on paper, on floppy disk, and/or by email, in a variety of formats.
Client list includes the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, the Concrete Society, the Construction Industry Training Board, Duckworth, Christian Ejlers, John Murray (Publishers), Phillimore & Co., Shetland Archives, The Shetland Times, The Stationery Office, Tuckwell Press.
Over 18 years' experience of most aspects of library work, including information provision, cataloguing (to AACR2), classification (UDC and CI/SfB) and indexing of collections of books, journals, trade literature, standards and other documentation.
