CTC Youth work and JAC (just around the corner).
Mike Withers attended as Guest to speak about CTC Youth work and JAC (just
around the corner).
Churches together in Crowthorne (CTC) has been in existence for a number of years and has always had support from Catholic Church. They meet regularly sharing ideas and initiatives between the Churches in Crowthorne.
As an extension to this, 2 members from CTC have started a Detached Youth Work project, JAC, which was something originally piloted in Woodley. Their mission statement is - to give hope to young people in the community, enabling them to make positive choices, by demonstrating love and acceptance according to Christian principles. Mike explained that the 2 members, Peter and Sue, were working at night in Crowthorne, chatting to some of the Youths who were perhaps hanging around and trying to offer them support and help. He stressed that there is no overt evangelism, but more the showing of a Christian example.
The PPC agreed that we support the concept of addressing social issues among youths. We are reassured that there is no overt evangelism as we feel that we should not be imposing Christianity on these youths. We will keep the work that is being done in our prayers and would be interested in keeping up to date with progress.
Easter Vigil celebrations
It was agreed that the Social Committee would serve refreshments after the Vigil
Mass.
All other business was carried forward to next meeting.
